What is "Floating"?

No Gravity
Each float tank is filled with about 1 ton of epsom salt (magnesium sulfate). This creates a salt concentration that is twice that of the Dead Sea and a buoyant force that is greater than gravity. No matter your body shape or size, you will float!

No Sight
Once all the lights in your float room are turned off, you will literally not be able to see your hand in front of your face. What’s more, you will not be able to tell the difference between having your eyes open or closed!

No Sound
Our float tanks are built from sound proofed materials and isolated in their own rooms. In addition, you will be wearing earplugs while you float. While it is exceedingly difficult to completely eliminate all sound due to processes such as bone conduction, you’ll get pretty close to total silence in our tanks!

No Touch
The water in each tank is kept at the average skin temperature (93.5° F). The air inside the tank is also kept at the same temperature as the water. As you lay back, suspended in the perfectly warm water with no pressure points anywhere on your body, it won’t take long before the boundaries between your body and the environment begin to blur.

If any of this sounds scary, no worries! You have almost complete control of the environment.
- If you don’t like being in the dark, you can always turn the light on.
- If you find the silence unnerving, we can play music of your choice for the entire float.
- If you find the water too hot or too cold, we can always raise or lower the temperature for you (please give us advance notice, as it may take a few hours for the temperature to adjust).
- If the air is too stuffy, you can open the tank door and let it cool off.
- If at any point you feel uncomfortable or too restless, you can leave the tank and end your session at any time.
The only thing you cannot control is floating. You will float!
Why Float?
There are many reasons to float, the simplest being that it’s just an amazing experience! In fact, most of our clients do it just to see what it feels like. You really cannot feel so close to weightlessness without going in to outer space. Such a peaceful, dark, warm, and quiet environment is also not easy to reproduce at home, especially if you are a parent! The experience is truly unique, and worth trying at least once.
However, if the sheer tactile experience of floating is what draws you in (or even pushes you away), its benefits may help you see it in a more substantive light:
